When Will Beyoncé Slip Up?
Perhaps no female superstar over the past 10 years has made the impact, and avoided the controversy that comes with it, better than Beyonce. From the driving force behind Destiny’s Child to a hugely successful solo career and even an impressive film career, Beyonce has done an incredible job keeping her head above controversy, well, expect for that PETA incident, but really, who hasn’t pissed PETA off? Beyonce has accomplished more before the age of 30 than most people could in two lifetimes. It’s scary to think what this diva has planned for the future. Stay tuned, we might find out sooner than we think…
Like so many other kids, Beyonce Knowles started singing with her family. What was once a fun way to pass the time became something far more serious after a trip on the show Star Search. Beyonce and her group that would evolve into Destiny’s Child didn’t win that day, but it did help to lay the foundation of what would become an incredible singing career. After her family basically changed their lives and put everything toward making Beyonce a success, the teen finally had her breakthrough hit in 1997 off of the Men in Black soundtrack. The world waited with baited breath for the first Destiny’s Child album, and when it dropped in 1998, it was a bigger smash than anyone could have imagined. A year later and another Destiny’s Child album later, and Beyonce was one of the biggest names in music, which is pretty much where she expected to be. Much like Madonna, Beyonce knew from an early age she would be a force to be reckoned with.
It just took the rest of us a bit longer to figure it out.
Beyonce has done an amazing job of steering clear of controversy. She has, however, attracted the attention of those that wish to have a bit of fun with her. Back when Saturday Night Live didn’t suck, there was a reoccurring skit featuring an all girl group called Gemini’s Twin. The group was always in flux with a new third member complimenting the two existing members. This was, of course, a huge jab at Destiny’s Child which seemed to have a different lineup with every album, a reputation that went quite a ways in developing a diva persona for Beyonce. But in typical Beyonce fashion, she actually appeared on an episode of SNL and was featured as a “former member” of Gemini’s Twin. This ability to laugh and oneself is one of the major reasons why Beyonce is loved by her fans. She may be incredibly talented but she doesn’t take herself too seriously.
Of course, you have her incredible solo career and her amazing film career, including her turn in the Oscar winning film Dreamgirls. Beyonce is truly a figure that has all of Hollywood at her beck and call. It doesn’t matter if your movie needs a soundtrack, a lead actress or both, Beyonce is here to make you and your film millions. With a track record like hers, it is no wonder Beyonce is one of the hottest names in Hollywood.
