The poverty-stricken streets of Africa were the backdrop for 19-year-old Super model Gemma Ward.

Gemma Ward spoke to an Australian Newspaper for the first time after a recent trip to Malawi brought her face to face with the crushing poverty that makes her life on the catwalks seem almost comical.

Several super models have lent their name (and faces) to important causes around the world, though a good many more have not taken advantage of their fame to help a charitable organization. It’s great to see that at such an early age, Ward already has that sense of giving back.

For Ward, going to Malawi was a life-changing experience.

Her career is white hot and planning to capitalize on that, the 19 yr. model has a goal of raising $500,000 in the next four years to fight poverty in Africa.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell spends approximately $700 on eyelash extensions every six weeks. Ouch. Not sure which is worse, the money or the time lost. Naomi spends four hours in a London salon that specializes in applying giant luscious lashes. The salon will also give you Eagle talons for the right price. They take a bit longer to apply.

With eyelash extensions, she gets all the effects of mascara without the fuss of clogging make-up and, at night, she doesn’t have to waste time removing every last trace of it, a source says. Great time saving tip - I’ll shell out the $700, spend four hours in the salon and save 10 minutes a night not removing my mascara. If I do that for 24 days straight, I’ll get those 4 hours back!!

An almost unrecognizable Kate Moss models the next phase of her Topshop clothing range in the November issue of i-D magazine.

A smoky-eyed Kate wears a messy white-blonde wig with a blunt fringe and reclines on a bed to model some of the collection’s more revealing pieces.

The supermodel will be hoping to replicate the success of her debut collection for Topshop which notched up sales of $6m in its first week. It’s hard to argue with any look she chooses as she pulled in a whopping $5 million last year, with very little runway work.

With shoots as hot as this, we don’t think she’s gonna have a problem with that.

Topshop is making plans to open in the U.S. They are expected to open in New York in Spring of 2007 and then on to the other progressive states. They’ve also recently announced that Kate Moss will be designing a new label for them.

Earlier this week [8-24-07], reports surfaced that Tyra Banks has split with her manager, Benny Medina. Good guy or bad guy, over the last seven years together, they built an incredible brand that is Tyra Banks.

Say what you will about Tyra Banks as a TV host, reality-show judge, recording artist, or humanitarian. One thing is for sure: She is smokin’ hot and whip smart.

Reports claim that “the supermodel has impressed her friends with the quality of her creations, and is now planning to show off the artwork to a wider audience.”

Whoa, stop right there. If this celebrity sells a piece of art after painting for “a couple of weeks,” I’m gonna eat my shoes.
